As the trail to Everest Base Camp became more and more crowded, a need arose to find an alternative route that could be equally spectacular in terms of the mountains experience and views of the worls's tallest peak. The route up to Dudh Pokhari and Gokyo Ri surpasses the traditional route. As we follow the Dudh Koshi River towards its source, we pass Cho-oyu 8153 meter, the sixth highest peak in the world. Leaving the inhabited world behind, we trek through seasonal yak herding pastures until, atlast, we reach out high camp on the shores of Dudh Pokhari (Milk Lake). From here wee day hike to 5300m Gokyo Ri – the highest point on this trek- then return to our camp in time for dinner.
